WORKSHOP
Quilling
Quilling is a paper shaping technique (paper filigree). It is used to make various paper decorations that can be put together to create small (or large) works of art. In nineteenth-century lower primary school, girls had the subject entitled Women’s needlework. Apart from embroidering, weaving and lace-making, they used to create art pieces by drawing or by creating with other materials, including paper. In the Museum art workshop, we use this interesting and simple technique to create small works of art: holiday greeting cards, Easter eggs, Christmas decorations, notebook covers and many other items. The play with paper encourages patience, tidiness and the sense of beauty.
Duration: 45 minutes.
Participants: pre-school children, elementary school pupils, secondary school pupils, adults.
